Investigations

The basic purpose of Criminal Investigations Division (CID) is to investigate crimes in order to arrest and convict perpetrators. An investigator must analyze and integrate the information attained to continue an investigation. To reach their objectives, the investigator seeks the aid of experts in specialized fields, technicians, forensic specialists, etc., and couples this with their training to bring a case to a successful conclusion. The investigation must be complete in every detail to assure a successful prosecution and conviction when presented in court.

CID also performs a pro-active role in launching undercover drug investigations, surveillance, local and highway interdiction to seek out and arrest known individuals engaged in the distribution and sale of controlled substances. Narcotics investigators utilize sophisticated equipment and other innovative investigative techniques to conduct surveillances of known drug dealers thus acquiring necessary information to facilitate an arrest and seizure of contraband. To date, approximately 18 million dollars and thousands of pounds of illegal controlled substances have been seized from drug dealers.
